A note regarding GAfutures:

Please DO NOT create multiple accounts.  If you are unsure if you have one, or if you don't remember your information, contact Mrs. Herron.  Accounts cannot be merged!

SCHS Dual Enrollment Checklist

Please note:  It is the responsibility of the student to know the requirements and deadlines of both SCHS and the post-secondary institution. The following is merely a guide.

Often, the semester deadlines of colleges are much earlier than those of SCHS.

Because there are deadlines and requirements, the order of completion of this checklist may vary.

  • Apply to the college.
  • Take any necessary assessments/exams (SAT, ACT, ACCUPLACER) required by the post-secondary institution. If you can't find the information on the college's website, contact them to ask!
  • Submit any additional required materials to the post-secondary institution.  Some colleges encourage students to send transcripts through the GAfutures website.  Others prefer the transcripts be sent from the high school counselor.
  • Schedule an advisement meeting with Mrs. Herron.( or 706-886-6825 ext. 6811)
  • Review Dual Enrollment information, including the DE Approved Course Directory.  A student may not take a course that is not found on this approved list.  A link to the directory is found in the DE Resources & Links section of this page.
  • Parent, student, and the school counselor are required to sign the DE Student Participation Agreement (SPA) for the desired semester.  This will be done during a scheduled advisement meeting.  A SPA must be completed for each semester of participation.  The SPA is the form that is used for registering students for DE classes.
  • Complete the DE Funding Application.  A DE Funding Application must be completed for each semester of participation.  A link to the DE Funding App is found in the DE Resources & Links section of this page.  SOME COLLEGES REQUIRE THIS STEP BEFORE THEY WILL REGISTER YOU FOR CLASSES.  The DE Funding Application is completed online and, in short, is how GSFC knows to pay for the course(s).  Failure to complete the DE Funding Application may result in the student being dropped from the class or being invoiced for the class.
  • Submit a copy of your college class schedule to Mrs. Herron.  Only after your college schedule is received will your SCHS schedule be changed to reflect the DE class(es).
  • Communicate with Mrs. Herron throughout the semester regarding any concerns or changes to your schedule.
  • Upon completion of the class, check with Mrs. Herron to be sure that your transcript was received from the college.
